Special Fundraising Projects

Below please find a list of special fundraising projects underway within the department of Student Services.  If you are interested in supporting one of these priorities, please contact the Student Services Advancement Office at (517) 355-7535 or make a gift online today. 
 

The Office of the Vice-President and Associate Provost

The office of the Vice-President and Associate Provost is working to establish a new endowment to provide important funding that will be dedicated to supporting new initiatives and programs designed by Student Services to enhance the quality of life for the MSU community.  If you are interested in making a gift to support the Spartan Experience Endowment, please call the Student Services Advancement Office at (517) 355-7535.
 
 

Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay and Transgender Resource Center

The LBGT Resource Center is working to raise funds to provide unrestricted support with impact focusing on enhancement of office center functions.  Gifts to this fund will support the following initiatives: Safe Zone and Ally Activation Programming, LBGT Panel Discussion Program Support, Resource Development, Lavender Reception Event, Leadership Development Support, support for the new Facilities and Space Expansion.   Learn more about the LBGT Resource Center.


Migrant Student Services

Continuing Education Scholarship Fund supports migrant students who successfully complete their freshmen year.   This is a renewable scholarship for students and will provide critical funding to help them continue to earn their college degree.    Learn more about Migrant Student Services
 
 
 

Multicultural Center

Support programmatic enhancements and resource materials for MSU's Multicultural Center.  The Center is located in the Union and is a resource for all students.  The center offers students space for student group meetings and programs, computers and resource materials including racially/ethnically-themed files, books and publications.   In addition the center hosts the offices of the Coalition of Racial Ethnic Students (CORES) student groups which include the Asian Pacific American Student Organization, Black Student Alliance, Culturas de la Raxus Unidas, and the North American Indian Student Organization.

The Office of Cultural and Academic Transitions

The Intersections Fund supports creative and innovative initiatives that cultivate cooperation among different cultural student communities. Examples of programs include our Spartan Remix program that brings together students-of-color, LGBT-identified students, international students, and majority students for an evening of activities and cultural programs that set the stage for "student intersections" throughout the year. The Intersections Fund provides unrestricted programmatic support to these and similarly focused programs.

The Office of Supportive Services

The Academy is designed to incorporate a rigorous academic summer residential program, that cultivates a diverse, living - learning experience, within which, students will be motivated to engage actively, and thrive at MSU. The Academy, an intensive 7 week summer academic preparation and college transition bridge program, is designed to prepare students to sustain satisfactory, progressive enrollment toward the attainment of a baccalaureate degree. Learn more about MSU's Office of Supportive Services.
 


Safe Place Domestic Violence Program and Shelter

The Advocacy Assistance Fund provides MSU students dealing with domestic violence or stalking, to assist with advocacy assistance costs associated with safety planning as well as provide educational assistance for those attending MSU. Victims of sexual assault and/or relationship violence will receive the assistance they need to overcome their situation and continue their studies. Learn more about MSU Safe Place.
 
 

Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities

The Samaritan Scholarship is the first scholarship for MSU undergraduates with disabilities, the scholarship supports sophomores, juniors and seniors with disabilities. In order to reach the long-term total of $300,000 to support the scholarships, this fund currently needs to raise an additional $15,000 in order to produce five $3K scholarships annually.  Learn more about the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities Samaritan Scholars Endowment. 
 
 
The Stern Tutoring and Alternative Techniques for Education (STATE) program helps MSU students with learning disabilities by providing a structured environment, effective learning strategies, academic tutoring and other forms of academic support. Beyond traditional accommodation concepts, STATE provides new disability-specific instructional, tutorial, and peer-mentoring components.  Learn more about the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities STATE Endowment.
 
The Tower Guard Scholarship supports students who are in the Tower Guard Society who demonstrate outstanding services to the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities. Learn more about the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities Tower Guard Scholarship 

 

 


Upward Bound

Michigan State's Upward Bound pre-college program is working to raise funds to provide Field Trip Funding to enhance experiences for the Lansing Area high school students participating in the Upward Bound program.  Examples of trips donations to this fund will support are: Detroit Science Center, College Visits, Wharton Center Theater Productions and  Service-Learning projects. Learn more about Upward Bound.
