Pre-College & Access To College Programs

Michigan State University's Student Services department offers the following programs dedicated to help students explore and prepare for college. To learn more about how you can help please visit one of the following programs.

MSU's Gear Up Program provides post-secondary, career based information and tutorial assistance to thousands of middle school students from Albion, Detroit, Lansing and Jackson. This program is designed to introduce low income youth to the college experience and help them develop an interest in going to college. Learn more about how you can support the GEAR UP program.

The High School Equivalency Program managed by Migrant Student Services gives migrant farmworkers a chance to improve their lives by earning a GED. Upon successful completion of the program, MSU HEP students are encouraged to continue their education through college or technical / vocational schools. For over forty years MSU's Upward Bound program has helped hundreds of high school youth in the Lansing area from low-income families or families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree to complete high school and enter a post-secondary educational institution.
