The Intramural Sports and Recreative Service Departmentconducts and supervises a safe, supportive, active environment that is responsive to the MSU community's diverse recreative needs. Collaborative efforts are continually developed to enhance excellence in leadership development, employment possibilities, indoor and outdoor facility management, and programmatic opportunities including health and fitness competitive and informal sports, sports clubs, and special activities.

Harris 'Frank' Beeman Expendable Scholarship Fund
This scholarship supports junior level and above student employees who have worked for the IM department for two years and maintain a 3.0 GPA. This scholarship encourages students who have demonstrated the capacity and motivation to achieve educational and professional goals and the initiative to see opportunities that will further their progress. Intramural Sports Fund
Intramural Sports and Recreative Services goal is to develop an environment for students, faculty and staff that emphasizes and educates them in health & wellness, fitness, and sport activities. This is an unrestricted fund to support areas of greatest need.
Kathleen and Milton Muelder Learn-to-Swim Program
The Muelder Learn-to-Swim program was initiated by the generosity of Kathleen and Milton Muelder for dependent children of MSU students to attend the Learn-to-Swim program free of charge. Learn more about the Muelder learn-To-Swim Endowment.
The MSU Sailing Center
The MSU Sailing Center, which opened in 1997, is part of MSU's Department of Intramural Sports and Recreative Services. The center provides many educational and recreational opportunities in sailing and boating for students, faculty, staff and the general public. Learn more about the MSU Sailing Center.
The Learn-To-Sail at the MSU Sailing Center Scholarship
The Sailing Center provides opportunities for sailing and boating education and recreation for students, faculty and staff and the general public. Seasonally, approximately 140 participants complete our "learn to sail" program. Learn more about the MSU Sailing Center.
Recreative Fitness and Services for Persons with Disabilities
This fund supports events like the Adapted Sports Festival, the Annual MDSA Victory Games, and Special Olympics. This fund provides resources to support students, faculty and staff with disabilities in activities such as wheelchair basketball, bocce ball, weight lifting, swimming, and slalom competitions.
Daniel and Barbara Reid Endowment
In 1993 the estate of Daniel and Barbara Reid established an endowment to support the future of Intramural Sports and Recreative Services at Michigan State University. The purpose of the fund is to encourage and assist students, faculty, staff and others to participate and use the resources available through the department. Learn more about the Reid Endowment.
Self Defense for Women Fund
A safe environment is important to MSU, but the reality is that the risk of harm still remains. To help prepare women, the department offers free self defense workshops.
Sport Clubs
