Paul L. Dressel (1910-1989) served at MSU as distinguished Professor for the College of Education and as the first Director of the MSU Counseling Center for close to 50 years.
Dr. Dressel helped establish the first student counseling center at MSU after World War II. He authored several books and publications including The Hannah Years, a history of MSU. His devotion to scholarship and the profession of counseling prompted his family and friends to established the Dressel Fellowship Endowment in 1990 for the MSU Counseling Center to honor his memory.
The fellowship is awarded annually to encourage interns who have demonstrated the capacity to achieve educational and professional goals, the motivation to achieve these goals and the initiative to seek opportunities to further their progress.
