The MSU Counseling Center is an international leader in providing collaborative support to thousands of MSU students annually to maintain a healthy environment for living, learning and growth. The mission of the center is "To Help All Students Succeed" and this is accomplished through a sensitive, multicultural framework which fosters understanding and inclusion of every aspect of diversity.
Housed on campus, the Counseling Center has operated for over 60 years and provides confidential services to MSU students to help them achieve their academic and personal goals while they are at MSU. Programs and services include individual and group counseling, psychiatric referrals, and outreach programming. The center is accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services. All clinical staff members are licensed or certified in the state of Michigan and hold doctorates in counseling or clinical psychology or master's degrees in counseling or social work. Offering time limited counseling to students, programs include individual and group counseling, referral, testing, multicultural issues, substance abuse assessment and sexual assault crisis and safety education. Any student registered for one or more credits is eligible for a consultation or assessment interview.
The Counseling Center administers the MSU Testing Office which serves as a regional and national test site and clearinghouse for standardized exams available to both students and the general public. Learn more about how you can support the Testing Office.
The MSU Sexual Assault Program is part of the Counseling Center and responds to the needs of those impacted by sexual violence and works to create a socially just community: free of violence, abuse of power, and oppression. Learn more about how you can support the Sexual Assault program.
