The Undergraduate University Division

The Undergraduate University Division is committed to providing accurate and timely academic advising, relevant learning skills, career and major selection, and other academic support services to prepare students for academic success. This is accomplished through the work of the Student Academic Affairs offices and the Learning Resource Center.

SIGNATURE PROGRAMS

department works closely with academic advisors and support units across campus and annually provides advising to over 13,000 students and operates satellite offices throughout the campus to make the service more available to MSU's students. The program also manages the semi-annual Marathon of Majors to help students learn about different courses of study available at MSU. UUD advisors offer evening advising for MSU's student athletes, present workshops on learning styles and study skill building in residence calls, provide GRE preparation workshops for graduate students, offer math study groups for undergraduates, administer the Learning Resource Center and annually host an honors reception for No-Preference students who are on the Dean's list.

The Learning Resources Center  The mission of the Learning Resources Center is to provide course specific one-on-one academic support to MSU students, to help MSU students become more effective students overall, provide access to educational support and electronic literacy training for students and to provide assistance for faculty in areas related to test writing, learning styles and other pedagogical concerns. "I learned of the MSU Sailing Center and signed up for a month long class. I found the classes to be very well organized and professionally taught. The management and staff were very considerate in providing a larger boat which met my needs as a senior citizen. The following year my oldest son signed up for a month long class and likewise had a good learning experience. We sailed the second summer at the center during which time we spent many quality hours just being able to relax in an atmosphere which allowed for easy conversations. Michigan State's sailing center is a rare jewel that needs to be preserved and expanded."
